Celebrating Twin Shores Camping Area, One of Canada's Top Eleven Places to Go RVing in Canada |
(Darnley, Prince Edward Island) October 6th, 2010 –Today, Go RVing Canada announced Twin Shores Camping Area, Prince Edward Island, as one of the top eleven places to go RVing in the country. This region was the most voted by Canadians through the coalition's recent "Top 100 Spots to RV in Canada" Centennial Contest. Last month, Go RVing Canada, in partnership with the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada and the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), launched the month-long contest in honour of the RV Centennial. This contest, engaging RV enthusiasts across Canada, allowed Canadians to submit their favourite spot to RV in Canada for a chance to win an Apple iPad. "Twin Shores Camping Area is one of Canadians' favourite spots to go RVing. People love it for its close proximity to the ocean, spectacular views and beautiful beaches," said Go RVing Canada Spokesperson Angèle Lapointe. "This contest was a true testament to the RV lifestyle, which visibly remains a popular vacation choice for those who are looking for an affordable vacation that offers freedom, flexibility, and fun." "It is an honor to be the only private campground in Canada to make the list as a top 11 RV destination and I want to thank all of our guests across North America for voting for Twin Shores," says Brian Haverlock from Twin Shores Camping Area. "To be included with Banff and Pacific Rim National Parks is truly humbling. I encourage readers to come to P.E.I. and visit any of the wonderful campgrounds here and find out how great the entire Island is for RVing and vacationing." The Top 11 spots to RV in Canada, which consists of answers submitted by Canadians from coast to coast, include: Kluane Lake (Yukon), Pacific Rim National Park (British Columbia), Banff National Park (Alberta), Douglas Provincial Park (Saskatchewan), Spruce Woods Provincial Park (Manitoba), Algonquin Park (Ontario), Gaspésie (Québec), Cabot Trail (Nova Scotia), Fundy National Park (New Brunswick), Twin Shores Camping Area (Darnley, Prince Edward Island), and Gros Morne (Newfoundland and Labrador). The complete list of favourite Canadian RV destinations is available on Go RVing Canada's website, www.GoRVing.ca. Paula Hamill from Fredericton was one of many contest participants who voted for Twin Shores Camping Area. "Twin Shores in PEI is our very favourite camping spot," said Hamill. "We have been going there every year for the past 15 years. The beach is the main draw with lots and lots of sand with plenty of private spots to sit and enjoy the ocean." 2010 marks 100 years since the first mass-produced motorized camper was produced. Several events will be taking place throughout the year across North America and Go RVing Canada is thrilled to take part in the celebrations honouring this important occasion For more information on RVing and the RV lifestyle, be sure to bookmark www.GoRVing.ca. -30- The Go RVing Canada coalition was formed in 1997, and consists of RV manufacturers, RV dealers and campground operators.
