Celebrating the Cabot Trail, Canadians' Favourite Spot to go RVing in Nova Scotia |
(Halifax, Nova Scotia) October 14th, 2010 –Today, Go RVing Canada announced the top spot to go RVing in Nova Scotia: the Cabot Trail. This region had the most votes through Go RVing Canada’s recent “Top 100 Spots to RV in Canada” Centennial Contest. Last month, Go RVing Canada, in partnership with the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada and the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), launched the month-long contest in honour of the RV Centennial. This contest, engaging RV enthusiasts across Canada, allowed Canadians to submit their favourite spot to RV in Canada for a chance to win an Apple iPad. “The Cabot Trail is one of Canadians’ favourite spots to go RVing. People love it for its breathtaking scenery, hiking trails, abundant sea food dinning and remarkable hospitality,” said Go RVing Canada Spokesperson Angèle Lapointe. “This contest was a true testament to the RV lifestyle, which visibly remains a popular vacation choice for those who are looking for an affordable vacation that offers freedom, flexibility, and fun.” “If you haven’t already heard about it, or planned your next trip around it, you are in for quite a surprise,” says Mary Tulle CEO Destination Cape Breton. “The Cabot Trail is a wonder of nature that you won’t want to miss! These special places contribute to our vibrant tourism industry and Canada’s exceptional reputation around the world” said Helene Robichaud, Superintendent, Cape Breton highlands National Park. “What we have here in Cape Breton are the people, the places, and the natural ability to provide for an exceptional visitor experience.” The Top 11 spots to RV in Canada, which consists of answers submitted by Canadians from coast to coast, include: Kluane Lake (Yukon), Pacific Rim National Park Reserve (British Columbia), Banff National Park (Alberta), Douglas Provincial Park (Saskatchewan), Spruce Woods Provincial Park (Manitoba), Algonquin Park (Ontario), Gaspésie (Québec), Cabot Trail (Nova Scotia), Fundy National Park (New Brunswick), Twin Shores Camping Area (Darnley, Prince Edward Island), and Gros Morne (Newfoundland and Labrador).The complete list of favourite Canadian RV destinations is available on Go RVing Canada’s website, www.GoRVing.ca. Bob Budd from Newmarket was one of many contest participants who voted for the Cabot Trail. “I love the people who are so friendly, the lobster, the ocean, and the beautiful scenery,” said Budd. “What more could one ask for.” 2010 marks 100 years since the first mass-produced motorized camper was produced.
