HALIFAX RV SHOW ON TODAY

NEW STUDY SHOWS PROSPECTIVE RV OWNERSHIP AMONG HIGHEST IN ATLANTIC

HALIFAX, NS Feb. 2, 2007 - Go RVing Canada today released key findings from its 2007 National Ownership Study. The study revealed that overall RV ownership is on the rise in Canada and that currently some 14 percent of Canadian households own a recreational vehicle.

Locally, the study demonstrated that RV ownership was up to 12 percent in Atlantic Provinces, and that 28% of Atlantic residents who weren't current owners of RVs were potential buyers.

"The national study reveals that Canadians from Halifax to Victoria continue to embrace the freedom and flexibility associated with the RV lifestyle," commented regional Go RVing Board member David Dobson. "Specifically, we're pleased to see that the Atlantic region ranked among the highest in terms of prospective sales.

The national ownership figures were released today as part of Go RVing's 2007 National Market Assessment Report conducted by MRP Market Research Inc. The report was based on major national internet panel and 3,176 individual interview conducted nationwide.

"Most people, when they think of RV's, would be surprised to find out that so many households take part in the RV lifestyle," added Dobson. "Our national survey results really support the dealer experience in terms of just how broad-based RV ownership is in Canada."

Overall, the growth in RV ownership was broad based, as the overall percentage of household ownership increased by a full percentage point since the last national survey was conducted by Go RVing in 1998.

"It appears that Nova Scotians are really starting to discover the joys of RVing," said Dobson. "The family experience and low cost trips are all factors impacting the shift to RV ownership."

The Go RVing coalition was formed in 1997, and consists of RV manufacturers, RV dealers and campground operators. The coalition serves as the Canadian RV camping industry ambassador to provide the public and media with information about the benefits of RV travel. The coalition also seeks to enhance consumer information and satisfaction with the RV experience. For more information please visit www.GoRVing.ca.
