Go RVing Canada Applauds Big Boy’s Toys RV
Dealership for Holiday Campaign Initiative

(Ottawa, ON) December 9, 2011 –Today, Go RVing Canada applauds Big Boy’s Toys, an RV dealership located in Nanoose Bay, BC, for its annual holiday campaign “Fill the MoHo with Food”. This important fundraising event is in its fourth year, and benefits Hamperville Nanaimo, a community organization formed by the Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank and The Salvation Army of Nanaimo.

Big Boy’s Toys has been hosting local charity events throughout the months of November and December, in hope of raising awareness and much needed funds for Hamperville Nanaimo. Every year, the organization gathers food and cash donations over the holiday season in order to distribute Christmas food hampers to the less fortunate in the Nanaimo region. Hamperville Nanaimo served 4,200 people last year and distributed almost 2,000 Christmas Hampers.

“Go RVing Canada congratulates Big Boy’s Toys, which has played a crucial role in its community for several years now. They have truly set a great example for other Canadians, lending a hand to those who are most in need. We hope that this act of giving will be an inspiration for others,” said Go RVing Canada Spokesperson Angèle Lapointe.

Go RVing Canada is encouraging all Canadians to give to their local food banks over the holidays and participate in the charitable events in their region. Go RVing Canada has recently launched its “Stuff the RV and Feed Someone’s Tummy” campaign, benefiting The Salvation Army. Go RVing Canada is asking Canadians to get involved in the campaign, as The Salvation Army is currently in need of help more than ever. According to the organization, approximately 3 million Canadians, or one in 11 people, live in poverty, making access to everyday needs like food, clothing and shelter difficult.

“Through our events, we are hoping to fill an RV full of non-perishable food with the help of cities across Canada,” continued Lapointe. “This allows us to give back and help Canadian families who are less fortunate. Go RVing Canada is also promoting its very own iKettle this year, a user-friendly tool that allows participants to donate to The Salvation Army online.”
