2007 RV Sales Figures Show Continued Industry Growth |
|
Four Cities Host RV Shows this Weekend: Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg and Moncton (Ottawa) February 28, 2008, Today, Go RVing Canada released its annual RV sales figures, demonstrating that sales are up 13 per cent across the country for 2007. The release of these statistics comes as RV show season is in full swing, with four RV trade shows taking place this weekend across Canada. According to Statistics Canada figures, national RV sales were up an impressive 63 per cent over the last three years. Alberta and Ontario drove the market with their growth, increasing their sales 19 per cent and 18 per cent respectively. Canada wide, Alberta is responsible for close to a third of the country’s sales, with Québec coming in second by selling 27 per cent of Canada’s RVs in 2007. Many Go RVing member dealers are saying that RVing’s popularity rise is due to a growing number of young families getting into the lifestyle by purchasing smaller starter units combined with the rise of retiring baby boomers who are seeking more luxurious motorhomes in which to travel. Canadians in general are gravitating to the freedom, flexibility and family experience that the RV lifestyle has to offer. “We’re excited to see first time RVers come out to these shows, curious about what this lifestyle has to offer to them,” said Go RVing Spokesperson Catherine Fortin LeFaivre. “It demonstrates that the RV lifestyle is appealing to a broad segment of Canadians, regardless of age or income.” Fortin LeFaivre said that RV shows are a great place for Canadians to find the right unit to suit their lifestyle as there are hundreds of RVs on display starting at well under $10,000 for a tent trailer to over $200,000 for a deluxe class A motorhome. RV Shows are also an ideal place for early season savings. The Ottawa Spring RV Show runs from Friday, February 29 to Sunday, March 2 at the Ottawa Civic Centre. The Manitoba RV Show runs from Thursday, February 28 to Sunday, March 2 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. The Toronto Spring Motorhome and Trailer Show runs from Wednesday, February 27 to Sunday, March 2 at Mississauga’s International Centre. The Moncton RV Show runs from Friday, February 29 to Sunday, March 2 at the Moncton Coliseum Complex. For more information on RVing and RV shows across Canada, please visit www.gorving.ca.
