2007 Québec RV Sales Approached $1 Billion Mark

Québec City hosts RV Show

(Ottawa) March 27, 2008, Today, The Québec City RV Show (Salon des véhicules récréatifs de Québec) opened its doors as one of the last RV shows of the season.

According to Statistics Canada, the province of Québec represents the second largest market for RV sales in Canada. In 2007, Québec sold 27 per cent of Canada’s RVs, coming in behind Alberta which accounted for 30 per cent of the total. Last year, Québec’s RV sales were reported as being over $910 million.

“As evidenced by the close to 34,000 people who came to the Montreal RV Show two weeks ago, Québecers really understand the benefits of the RV lifestyle,” said Go RVing Spokesperson Catherine Fortin LeFaivre.

“They have discovered that despite the rising gas prices, RVing remains arguably one of the most cost effective—and fun—ways to travel.”

Fortin LeFaivre says that when you take into account the savings related to making your own meals in an RV rather than going to restaurants, and paying a nominal fee for a campsite rather than renting a hotel room, a family can easily save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars when vacationing.

Le Salon des véhicules récréatifs de Québec runs from now until Sunday, March 30 at the Centre de Foires d’Expo Cité de Québec.

The Go RVing coalition was formed in 1997, and consists of RV manufacturers, RV dealers and campground operators.  The coalition serves as the Canadian RV camping industry ambassador to provide the public and media with information about the benefits of RV travel.  The coalition also seeks to enhance consumer information and satisfaction with the RV experience.
