RV Sales Boast Growth Rate of Over 29%

OTTAWA, ON, June 28, 2007, Today, Go RVing Canada responded to the release of a new study reporting that RV sales were up 29.7 per cent in 2006 over last year’s sales.

The Statistics Canada study titled, “Retail Trade: How the Provinces Fared in 2006,” was released yesterday and indicates that recreational vehicle dealer sales increased to a record $2.9 billion.

“The study’s results confirm that RVing continues to grow in popularity across the country,” said Go RVing Public Affairs Director Catherine Fortin Major.  “Despite gas prices, studies show that RVing is still much more economical than a traditional family vacation involving air travel and hotels.”

Fortin Major said that yesterday’s results attest to the fact that more and more Canadians are realizing the benefits of RVing and are buying into the lifestyle.

“Those who have been RVing know that the lifestyle means fun, freedom and flexibility for the whole family,” said Fortin Major. “The secret’s out about this great way to travel, because as this report states, more and more Canadians are purchasing RVs.”

The Go RVing coalition was formed in 1997, and consists of RV manufacturers, RV dealers and campground operators.  The coalition serves as the Canadian RV camping industry ambassador to provide the public and media with information about the benefits of RV travel.  The coalition also seeks to enhance consumer information and satisfaction with the RV experience.  For more information please visit GoRVing.ca
