RV Season Officially Kicks off with Historically Low RV Prices |
|
Five Cities Host RV Shows this Weekend: Abbotsford, Calgary, Saskatoon, Hamilton and Halifax (Ottawa) January 29, 2009, Today, Go RVing Canada officially kicked off the RV season by announcing that RV prices are at an eight-year low for Canadian consumers. In November of 2008, the price to purchase a new RV declined for the fourth consecutive month. The average cost to operate an RV has also decreased. In today’s economic climate, Canadian consumers are increasingly looking for ways to save money and make their recreational dollars go further. Consumer price data from Statistics Canada has shown that the last time RV prices were at today’s level was in early 2001. “It has not been this easy for Canadians to get into a new RV for a long time,” said Go RVing spokesperson Alana Fontaine, “and on top of the decrease in prices for RVs themselves, gas prices have been more than cut in half in the past year, so operational costs for RVs are also lower than they have been in years.” Fontaine explained that there is an RV to fit every lifestyle and budget, and that historically low prices further add to the affordability of the RV lifestyle making an RV purchase a realistic opportunity for even more Canadian families. Even in times of economic uncertainty, RVs offer economy not found in any other vacation options. Depending on the RV model, a RV holiday can save a family of four anywhere between 50% and 70% over the cost of other forms of vacation travel. Including all RV ownership costs such as leasing payments, insurance, maintenance, tires and registration, a RV trip still works out to more economical when compared to a week's vacation for 4 in an RV, when you consider the costs of flights, car rental, hotels and eating out at restaurants. “Consumers want to stretch their dollars in tough times, and RV vacations are a great way to do that,” said Fontaine. “The fact that prices are lower than they have been in eight years means RVing will appeal to an even broader cross section of Canadians, regardless of their age or income.” Local RV shows and exhibitions are great places for Canadians to find the right RV to suit their lifestyle as there are hundreds of RVs of all models and price points on display. The 2009 Saskatoon Indoor RV Sale is Saskatchewan’s largest indoor display of RVs. Exhibitors will showcasing the industry’s latest innovations in all types of RVs from small light weight trailers, to Class A motorhomes and everything in between. The Saskatoon Indoor RV Sale runs from Thursday, January 29 to Sunday, February 8 at the Prairie Land Park Exhibition. For more information on RVing across Canada, please visit www.gorving.ca.
