DISCOVER THE RV LIFESTYLE YOUR AFFORDABLE VACATION ALTERNATIVE |
| Millions of families throughout North America are discovering that the most affordable and enjoyable vacation alternative starts with a visit to their local RV dealer. From the basic fold-down camping trailer to the most luxurious full-size motorhome, there is a recreational vehicle to suit every family's requirements. Just imagine being able to travel with complete independence. Your food, lodging and entertainment are all contained within the RV. Tired? Just pick the nearest campground (there are more than 4,000 from coast to coast in Canada) and the whole family can enjoy all the comforts of home for a fraction of the cost of a motel room. Seven types of RV can bring the freedom of this affordable vacation alternative to your family. The most basic models, the fold-down camping trailers, offer the benefits of easy towing and low cost. Light and compact, they can be towed by most family vehicles, even some four cylinder sedans. They travel as compact trailers, low enough that you can see over them with your rear view mirror. When you raise the roof and extend the front and rear sections, they offer stand-up headroom and up to twenty feet or more of interior length. Fully equipped fold down camping trailers have hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, stove and refrigerator. Some even have air conditioning! While fold-down camping trailers are ideally suited for moderate weather camping, the remaining six types of RV are often used through Spring, Summer and Fall, and some are available with winterizing packages, making them suitable for use as travelling ski or snowmobile chalets. Travel trailers offer all of the comforts of home in a range of sizes from about 20 to 36 feet. Trailers intended for touring are selected to match the towing capacity of your family vehicle - lightweight compact models weighing in under 4,000 pounds can be towed by a wide range of suitably equipped family vans, pick-up trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Generally, you only have to add a transmission cooler, hitch and wiring harness to modify a vehicle for trailer towing. Larger trailers, often referred to as "park models" are intended for infrequent travels, and offer greater interior space, often with at least one slide-out section to expand your living area. Pick-up truck owners can enjoy the extra living of a fifth wheel travel trailer, or the convenience of a slide-in truck camper. For complete freedom of movement in an RV designed for extensive travelling, the motorhome is the ideal selection. Available in three basic types, class A (bus style) vehicles, class B (camping vans) and class C (RVs built on a van chassis), the motorhome category begins at about $50,000 and peaks with luxury motorcoaches valued at ten times that amount or more. Whatever you require, there's an RV perfectly suited for your family's needs.
