RVs ARE NOT JUST FOR BOOMERS |
|
Young people are becoming increasingly interested in the RV lifestyle. The national organizationās 2004 tracking study indicates that information requested about the RV lifestyle from people 25-34 was 17.4%, and 31% from 35-44 year olds (a 3% increase). In 2003, 45.7% of inquiries came from people in the 18-44 age bracket. Go RVing has been tracking this trend for the last three years. Don Mockford, Executive Director, Go RVing Canada, says, "the number of younger people asking about recreational vehicles is steadily increasing and this confirms our conviction that the RV lifestyle is not just for mature families or retired people." The report does not distinguish between couples with or without children. Go RVing has discovered that many couples enjoy the RV lifestyle before they plan a family. What is the attraction for younger people? Are RVs designed with younger lifestyles in mind? Why RVs suit young families
and couples without children First, recreational vehicles accommodate both active lifestyles and relaxed ones. Whether you engage in daring, rugged outdoor adventures or prefer tame, indoor sports interests, you will always feel at home in your RV. Second, RVs are comfortable and flexible. RVs go anywhere, anytime, and allow you to do pretty much anything! Many RVers claim that visiting friends or family is better because both families enjoy the privacy and convenience of being close by. Third, RVing is a terrific alternative to traveling and staying in hotels, motels and/or bed and breakfasts. In fact, Rving is the best of several worlds. You can sightsee, meander along scenic country roads and whenever youāre ready, retire to your own castle and sleep in your own bed. No matter what your age, you can appreciate that. The fourth reason young people enjoy RVing is once theyāve found the ideal resting place, the RV can be used as a base for outings for as long as you want. You have the option of dining out or coming back to the RV to prepare your meals. Either way, you can return to the comfort of your own set up. RVs are multi-purpose; they suit families of every age ö not just boomers. There is an RV for every lifestyle passion
whether youāre a couple or a large family An RV can be your weekend home-away-from home year round. The style of RV you need simply depends on your interests. With a choice of numerous styles and types of RVs anyoneās lifestyle can be accommodated. If your lifestyle includes golfing or fishing in the summer or perhaps snowmobiling or skiing in the winter, many RVs include built in heating and cooling units. If not, a small space heater or an oil lamp will extend the RV season for you. Motorized Many people associate an RV with a motor home. Only 20% of RVs on the market are motor homes. There are 3 types of motorized RVs: Class A or bus-style, also called motor homes; Class B, camping vans; and Class C, a mini motor home built on a commercial van chassis with a distinctive bunk bed over the cab. Towable The most common towable RV is the travel trailer, which comes with almost endless feature possibilities. Now, there are even hybrid models with pop-out ends to expand your sleeping space further. Travel trailers are towed by a car, van, SUV or pick-up. The 5th Wheel Trailer is designed to be towed by a pickup truck equipped with a special hitch in the truck bed and has a unique bi-level design that raises the master bedroom (or living room) over the truck bed. Fold-down camping trailers are often a familyās first RV because they are inexpensive and can be towed by a car. Park models are designed for seasonal living in a full-service setting, but can be relocated because they are built on a single chassis. The slide-in truck camper is popular because the truck is still available to tow boats, ATVs, snowmobiles or even a horse trailer. Small but comfortable, it can still sleep up to four. Try an RV ö youāll like it! Still unsure about the RVing phenomenon? Try renting. Check out the RV dealers and RVs For Rent directory on the Go RVing website at www.gorving.ca. Renting is an excellent way to get a taste of the lifestyle and experience the freedom and flexibility prior to making a purchase. Letās talk about benefits As an RV owner frequent travel is convenient and affordable. The # 1 reason given for enjoying the RV life is "freedom". This feature attracts younger people who need to take shorter breaks regardless of weather conditions. Thereās no doubt about it, RVs offer economical holidays. Studies show that a family of four can spend up to 70% less while RVing on vacations versus the cost of airlines, rental cars, hotels and restaurants. Another important benefit to RVing is the quality time you can have to spend with your spouse and children in an RV. With an RV you can afford to get away more often. Remember, RVs are not only for retired folks who head south in the winter. Go RVingās latest statistics clearly show that younger people are interested. Nearly 50% of people interested in the benefits and features of RVs recognize that Rving is not just for boomers! For more information on the RV lifestyle, please visit www.gorving.ca |
