What kind of RV should I get?

Sport Utility RV (SURV)

SURV stands for sport-utility RV. This is the new craze in RVing because it allows you and your "toys" to travel to your favourite off-road destinations without leaving behind the comforts of home. Beds, dinettes and couches are typically designed to fold up against interior walls to maximize rear cargo space. But what distinguishes an SURV from other trailers or towable RVs is a swing-down ramp and enough cargo space for a variety of off-road vehicles such as ATVs, dirt bikes, jet skis, canoes, snowmobiles or motorcycles.

Size: ranges from 5.8 to 11.9 meters (19–39 ft)
Cost: starting from approx. $12,000 *
Sleeps: up to 8 people, depending on the model

* Prices of new units are quoted in $Cdn.
Used models also available at your local RV dealer

Features of the Sports Utility RV

Slide-out options are available, which move part of the RV wall outward at the touch of a button, a distance of up to 1 meter (3½ ft).
Fully winterized versions for winter RVing, include a higher BTU furnace, heated tanks, upgraded insulation and double-glazed windows.
